CGI Revolution - in 1986 ‘Basil The Great Mouse Detective’ (the greatest Disney film) (actually its on par with a few) ( no I take that back, its the greatest) was Disney’s first film to use computer graphics, during the scene inside the clock.  I genuinely think this is one of the scariest moments in any film as well, when Ratigan takes on pure rat features and characteristics it terrifies me to the core!  He’s a vicious one, he really is.

After this, the technology was used in many animated films, the first of which was ‘The Abyss” in 1989 from ILM and after its success the company started trying bigger and more ambitous projects such as ‘Terminator 2’ in 1991 then ‘Jurassic Park’ (the whole reason I researched CGI history).  It is my all time favourtie film and the way it shaped CGI as well as film both animated and live makes it so much more epic.

In the film, when a dinosaur was shown in a full body shot, generally it was created digitally, whereas close ups of body parts were kept as animatronics.

It is one of the greatest films of all time/the greatest film of all time.
